A selection of latest railway photographs

Mainly covering local lines around Preston, Blackpool, Wigan & Bolton. Looking through my collection it seems largely dominated by class 47s on either XC services & weekend diversions.

An area of the country covered thinly by myself. I don't have a rather large collection around here considering most of these locations are not much more than an hours drive away.

I only had one good day with the 56 hauled potash trains on the Boulby branch in 2003 and im glad I did. I've only visited the area recently for railtours to Whitby and these will be added shortly.

Most of these shots are centred around Barnetby, Melton Ross & Wrawby Jct where these lines have retained there magnificent semaphore signals.

A mixture of shots taken on the S&C line and around Hellifield as well as a few around south Yorkshire. This makes up most of my collection as there are plently of spots on my 'to do' list.

I took most of these shots while the class 47s were on the Nuneaton diversions shortly before class 57s taken over.

Most of these shots were taken around Millmeece, Slindon, Heamies farm & Stafford.

I dont have a particularly large collection from this area despite living in close proximity. Added to that I visit the Wirral regularly photographing shipping and haven't attempted any Merseyrail electric units which is something still on my 'to do' list!

Trips to the area on summer saturdays were always enjoyable. Since the XC 47s finished my visit my visits have been few & far between. Unfortunately Cockwood harbour has recently been ruined by the dreaded network rail fence.

This collection covers the regular winter sunday diversions around Stockport & Ordsall lane as well as well as some 101s around Piccadilly before they finished.

Although this line only sees units, they are still worth photographing at the excellent scenic locations on the line. I have been fortunate with the weather on numerous class 37 hauled railtours in this area of the last few years.

This collection mainly covers the class 73s on the Gatwick express services a couple of years before they finished.

Covering north Wales & Anglesey. This area has been blessed with loco hauled passenger services in recent years with virgin/arriva today along with class 47s & 37s before that. Pound for pound the nw coast has some of the best locations in the country so that coupled with good weather made it quite successful for me!

This section largely covers the last years of class 37 hauled passenger services along the Rhymney valley along with some along the south Wales mainline.

This section covers most of the railways around Chester & south of Warrington.

A section covering the various class 37 hauled duties around the Warrington area from 2000 onwards. This includes the local trip workings which used to be regularly booked for type 3 traction as well as the short return of the 'Irish Mancunian' passenger service. Luckily Warrington has become one of the last places to sample these EE beasts.

Covering the various railways around Warrington predominantly on the west coast mainline as well as the Cheshire lines, low level & LNWR chat moss line. This is where I live so ive tried to show as much variety as possible.
